Thanksgiving wouldn’t be Thanksgiving at St James without our annual community dinner. The entire community was welcome to join us for a complete, homemade dinner with all the trimmings. Our wonderful volunteers toiled in our kitchen most of the day to serve more than 200 people (plus volunteers) who showed up to enjoy the meal. Homemade dishes were brought in by many generous donors, while others brought in turkeys which were prepared in our kitchen Thanksgiving morning.
This year featured our own Bishop Donald Hyman, who rolled up his sleeves and got to work serving beverages at each table. Dinner wasn’t served before the Bishop offered thanks to God for all of our blessings, and reminded us that sometimes there are blessings in the hard times.
This event is organized and sponsored by our St Vincent DePaul ministry, a hard working group of volunteers who raise money throughout the year to bring you this event. Please be sure to thank them, and all of the other volunteers, without whom we couldn’t have done this.
